The Organizing Committee arranges a conference bus from Krakow to Zakopane. It will depart on May 20th, 2013, from the Henryk Niewodniczanski Institute of Nuclear Physics, 152 Radzikowskiego Str. at approx. 15.00 (to be confirmed later). The route to Zakopane will be continued via Balice Airport. The return bus is planned on May 25th, 2013 at approx. 14.00. Let us know the time and place of your arrival (and departure) fairly in advance, so the Organizing Committee may arrange all help you might need in Krakow. If you want to be taken by the conference bus check appropriate field in registration form.
On Institute website you can find a map marked with public transport leading to Institute of Nuclear Physics (IFJ) PAS. The buses lines are marked red and symbol ‘A’ signifies stops, whereas blue lines are for trams with stops ‘T’. If you are not planning to use conference bus:In Krakow To get from Krakow Balice Airport (http://www.krakowairport.pl/en) the best choice is a train which runs between Airport and Krakow Center (Krakow railway main station integrated with bus station). The train stop at the airport is situated 200 m from international terminal (T1) (see map). You can walk there or wait for an Airport shuttle bus (schedule). The train runs in a day time every 30 - 40 min schedule), the ticket price for one way is 12 PLN or two ways 20 PLN (valid 30 days) and can by purchased in the train or at the terminal T1 (ticket machine located near the main exit of the terminal). It is possible to use also authorized airport taxi which are located in front of the international terminal and the domestic terminal. The trip to Krakow center costs about 60 - 80 PLN. To get from Krakow to Zakopane the best choice will be a bus. There are 2 or 3 buses every hour in a day time. The travel time takes around 2 hour and schedule can be checked at http://www.rda.krakow.pl/en/detale.php, the ticket price is around 20 PLN. The bus station is located next to the Krakow railway main station. In Zakopane The conference center "Hyrny" (http://www.hyrny.pl/) is about 1.5 km from Zakopane bus station at Piłsudskiego 20, How to get to KRAKÓW (Cracow) [50.06°N, 19.96°E]:By plane DIRECT FLIGHTS: In order to get to the main Railway Station (Dworzec Glowny) one can use regular rail services to Krakow city center operated by PKP Przewozy Regionalne Sp.z.o.o. Travel time is approximately 20 min, ticket fare is around 4 Euro. The Krakow-Balice Station is located 200 m from the passenger terminal, you can get there by foot (around 5 min. walk) or take a free shuttle bus service which operates to and from Krakow-Balice Station, this is a 3 min. trip from the airport terminal building. There is also bus stop located directly at the roundabout, in front of the passenger terminal. Buses of the municipal transport authority (MPK S.A.) of Krakow no. 192 - from Krakowska Szkola Wyzsza, through Railway Station, Plac Matejki, AGH and the Cracovia Hotel 208 - from Nowy Kleparz, through the Miasteczko Studenckie (Students' Town) and Balicka Street (cost approx. 1 Euro one way) Taxi from the airport (cost approx. 15 Euro one way) takes you to the city center. INDIRECT FLIGHTS: KATOWICE PYRZOWICE AIRPORT is now a base of cheap flights operators such as Wizz Air and Centralwings. From Pyrzowice Airport there are bus connections related to the flight operators to Krakow Bus Station. (cost: approx. 15 Euro one way) Tips:
By train “Dworzec Glowny" Railway Station - the main station in Krakow is located in city center and offers direct connections to European Cities i.e. Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest and to most cities in Poland. By coach International Krakow Bus Station is situated very close to the “Dworzec Glowny" Railway Station. Travel companies like EUROLINES and other offer coach connections to many cities in Europe. By car The Road Atlases of Poland are available at most Gas Stations in Poland. The roads are quite well marked although due to the road conditions driving in Poland is far from being comfortable.
